Where Democracy Dies in Darkness
The Washington Post is claiming that President Trump is under criminal investigation.
Citing unnamed “officials” once again, the dubious news source says
The special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice, officials said.
The move by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.
What a great way to change the subject from Democrat hatred and gun violence.
Disgruntled former FBI employee James Comey overcame his habitual anxiety symptoms long enough to assure the president on three occasions that he (Trump) was not personally under investigation. But apparently he (Comey) was lying, or things changed as soon as:
1- Comey became unemployed:
The obstruction-of-justice investigation of the president began days after Comey was fired on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter.
2- Democrats demonstrated their usual penchant for political violence.
Rep. Steve Scalise, a congressional staffer, a lobbyist and a member of the Capitol police force were shot Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia
3- The never-ending
witch-hunt investigation into Russian collusion STILL failed to come up with any evidence that would implicate the Trump campaign,
Where is the evidence of President Trump’s collusion with Russia?
The Wall Street Journal – no particular fan of Trump – characterizes the DOJ charge to Special Counsel, Robert Mueller, as fatally open-ended, vague, and flawed. His instruction lists no federal statutes and invites a fishing expedition into trivial matters. Journalists covering the story appear to disagree on what Mueller is supposed to do: Is he to “oversee the investigation into ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russian officials” or “investigate possible coordination between President Trump’s associates and Russian officials?”
so . . .
4- Special Counsel Mueller had to come up with something, anything, to investigate.
Mueller has not publicly discussed his work, and a spokesman for the special counsel declined to comment.
Psssssst! Rumor has it he’s looking into obstruction, which could end in IMPEACHMENT!
The interviews suggest that Mueller sees the question of attempted obstruction of justice as more than just a “he said, he said” dispute between the president and the fired FBI director, an official said.
Investigating Trump for possible crimes is a complicated affair, even if convincing evidence of a crime were found. The Justice Department has long held that it would not be appropriate to indict a sitting president. Instead, experts say, the onus would be on Congress to review any findings of criminal misconduct and then decide whether to initiate impeachment proceedings.
This brilliant investigative reporting by the crack journalists at the WaPo was immediately picked up by every single news outlet in the world, which quoted the WaPo’s
imaginary friends “unnamed sources” extensively.
Washington Post Editor Marty Baron said this week that his paper is treating the Trump administration the exact same way it would a Clinton administration, and they’re absolutely not the opposition party.
