Yes, yet another young Muslim woman has loudly declared to the world, “Don’t take my word for anything. If I tell you it’s Tuesday, get a second opinion.”
A New York college student who said she was harassed on a subway train earlier this month has been arrested, law enforcement sources told NBC 4 New York.
Yasmin Seweid, 18, was charged with filing a false report after she told authorities three men called her a terrorist and chanted “Donald Trump” at her aboard the 23rd Street 4/5/6 subway station on Dec. 1.
Now police sources have told NBC 4 New York that Seweid allegedly admitted to them she had been out drinking with friends, and made up the attack to distract her angry father. . . .
The Baruch College student originally said she told police she was approached by three men and told to “get out of this country,” was called a terrorist aboard the train and told to “get the f****** hijab off your head!” She also alleged that one of the men grabbed her bag and broke the strap.
That’s right: the assailant said “get the f****** hijab off your head.” Sounds likely.
Seweid posted to Facebook about the attack on Dec. 2, saying that “it breaks my heart that so many individuals chose to be bystanders while watching me get harassed verbally and physically by these disgusting pigs.”. . . She called the incident “traumatizing” and spoke with multiple news organizations about it.
Shouldn’t we just have it on disk, leave out the date, the location, and maybe the number of white male attackers, but otherwise have it ready to go?
And of course, the “Trump supporter” bit is a new wrinkle. All the latest hate crime hoaxes have “Trump supporters” as the assailants, when in fact real or imagined Trump supporters are much more likely to be the victims, as can be seen in this example.
But the general contours of this “Islamophobic hate crime” nonsense are always the same. Should we have it ready to cue up whenever the next heinous attack on the poor, poor, poor Muslim™ occurs? Or rather, doesn’t?
Last month we had this:
A Muslim female college student who claimed she was attacked and robbed by two “white male” Trump supporters for wearing a hijab admitted to police she made the whole story up.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A University of Louisiana Lafayette student who said she was physically attacked and robbed of her wallet and hijab made up the story, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
Public Information Officer Karl Ratcliff said police are currently reviewing the possibility of charging the 18-year-old student with filing a false police report.
The young woman filed a police report Wednesday claiming two white males approached her near the campus, in the 100 block of Smith Street, around 11 a.m.
She also claimed one of the males was wearing a “Trump” hat and they both yelled racial obscenities at her, police said. The Lafayette Police Department issued a news release saying: “During the course of the investigation, the female complainant admitted that she fabricated the story about her physical attack as well as the removal of her hijab and wallet by two white males.”
