Happy Beltaine

Beltane, also spelled Beltine, Irish Beltaine or Belltaine, also known as Cétamain, is a festival held on the first day of May in Ireland and Scotland, celebrating the beginning of summer and open pasturing. Beltane is first mentioned in a glossary attributed to Cormac, bishop of Cashel and king of Munster, who was killed in 908. Cormac describes how cattle were driven between two bonfires on Beltane as a magical means of protecting them from disease before they were led into summer pastures—a custom still observed in Ireland in the 19th century. Other festivities included Maypole dances and cutting of green boughs and flowers.

In early Irish lore a number of significant events took place on Beltane, which long remained the focus of folk traditions and tales in Ireland, Scotland, and th Isle of Man. As did other pre-Christian Celtic peoples, the Irish divided the year into two main seasons. Winter and the beginning of the year fell on November 1 (Irish: Samain) and midyear and summer on May 1 (Irish: Beltaine). These two junctures were thought to be critical periods when the bounds between the human and supernatural worlds were temporarily erased; on May Eve witches and fairies roamed freely, and measures had to be taken against their enchantments.

Let’s Play Fantasy Candidacy!

Fantasy Candidacy is a reality-based activity in which the participants of a fantasy political class serve as the campaign managers of the presidential ticket of political parties. The competitors choose their ticket roster by participating in a draft in which all declared candidates are available. Points are based on the actual performances of the players in real-world competition.

Following his trouncing in the Northeast primaries Tuesday, and Donald Trump’s favorably received foreign policy speech on Wednesday, Ted Cruz decided it was time to start picking his Fantasy Candidacy roster. And playing in the Vice President position is early primaries drop-out Carly Fiorina!

Desperately seeking momentum after his third-place primary finishes in five states, slim-chance Republican presidential candidate

Ted Cruz on Wednesday tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina to serve as his running mate, an unusual move for an underdog candidate that reflects the increasing urgency for the fiery conservative to reverse his downward trajectory.

In a new variation on Fantasy Candidacy, the Texas Senator, a self-styled “outsider,” made his announcement in Indianapolis, the state capital of Indiana. The Cruz campaign met last week with that of even-less-likely candidate John Kasich  to divvy-up the remaining Republican primaries. Together they decided that Indiana would go for Cruz, while New Mexico and Oregon would go for Kasich.

Remember, players: points are based on actual performance.

Soros-funded John Kasich has yet to announce his Fantasy Candidacy roster. Did somebody say Jeb!?

KKK Leader Endorses Hillary Clinton

Will Quigg at the rally

Yet another crazed psycho has come out in support of Hillary Clinton.

Will Quigg, a grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, has endorsed  Hillary Clinton for the Presidency. The prominent California KKK leader says that the group has donated thousands of dollars to Clinton’s campaign and that the Klan is officially endorsing the Democrat frontrunner.

This is the same Will Quigg who last year endorsed Trump for the same office. He has apparently had a change of heart, contending that the earlier endorsement was given “before we found out about what Hillary Clinton’s main agenda was.”

Quigg stated that Hillary has a “hidden agenda,” though he could not reveal where he got that information.

Border policies are going to be put in place. Our second amendment rights that she’s saying she’s against now, she’s not against. She’s just our choice for the presidency”  . . . .  It’s my opinion – if you know what I mean, wink, wink. I don’t want her to come back and say I’m slandering her.

Wow —Bobby Shmurda  and Will Quigg. Talk about universal appeal.

The Left is of course dismissive of the endorsement. Robert Tait, writing in the UK’s Telegraph insisted that Quigg’s support of Hilary is “unconvincing” and his disavowal of Trump is “surprising.”

And the Forward quotes Brian Levin of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University in San Bernardino, saying that  Quigg “probably made his statement more to protect the Trump campaign from white supremacist associations.”

But given the long racist history of the Democrat Party, no one should really be surprised.

First Nude Protest Against Hijab in the Islamic Republic

Before Sharia law was imposed on the Iranian population, almost no one would have thought — and in fact people ridiculed the idea — that Islamic law might be instituted in Iran. No one would have thought that a modern secular and civilized country might, all of a sudden, go thousands of years back to an uncivilized legal system.

No one would have thought that compulsory hijab would be imposed, that the legal marriage age for girls would be dropped from 18 to 9 years old, that speaking your mind or criticizing Islam, Muhammad or Allah would lead to execution, that the weight of the testimony of women would be half of that of men.

Opposing Sharia law, activist writes on her body: “I Am Not A Slave.”

Budget Shortfall ? Here’s an Idea . . .

The Hindu is reporting  that “cash-strapped” ISIS is raising funds by killing its own wounded soldiers to harvest their organs.

The terrorists are suffering a budget shortage after their recent loss of territory in the Southern part of Mosul and for the same reason it is reportedly killing its own militants who have been injured in southern Mosul to take out their body organs such as hearts and kidneys to sell them in the black market, the Iranian FARS news agency reported.

It also cited Spanish daily El Mondo as saying that faced with an increased number of wounded members in the Syrian army and popular forces’ attacks, the IS is using the body organs of its captives for transplantation.

Not sure how reliable the FARS new agency is, but the story has appeared elsewhere as well.

The report echoes a similar complaint brought by the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN last year. Mohammed Alhakim said that

. . . bodies have turned up in mass graves bearing surgical incisions and missing organs such as kidneys. Ambassador Mohamed Alhakim leveled the charge as he asked the Security Council to investigate whether ISIS is harvesting and selling the organs of those it executes . . .. “We have bodies,” Alhakim told his international counterparts. “Come and examine them. It is clear they are missing certain parts.”

The latest incidents are in response to financial difficulties for the terrorist group. ISIS’s income has reportedly dropped by 30% since last year.

The fall in the world oil price has taken the largest toll, with daily oil revenues having topped $1.5 million at their peak. But the loss of terroritory has meant a drop in tax revenue, as well as ransoms from kidnappings, sales of slaves, bank robberies, and the ever-popular black market sale of looted historical artifacts.

The number of people currently living in the Jihadi-controlled area has dropped to fewer than six million, down from nine million at the start of 2015.

Bill Nye the Fascist Guy

Bill Nye, TV’s “science guy,” said in an interview Thursday that he supports prosecution and jail time for those who dissent from the view of left-wing politicians that anthropogenic global warming exists, and can best be combatted through the transfer of billions of dollars from 1st world taxpayers to third world governments.

Not to mention NGO’s. And contributors to the political campaigns of left-wing politicians.

Asked about a possible chilling effect that such a brown shirts strategy would have on free inquiry and free expression, the actor replied

“That there is a chilling effect on scientists who are in extreme doubt about climate change, I think that is good.”

At least the TV scientist acknowledges that there are actual scientists, engaged in primary research at major universities, who disagree with him.

Puff Ho and SPLC Blame it all on Donald Trump

I guess they need someone to blame for why Americans are at each other’s throats following the reign of the most divisive, racist, arrogant, self-important anti-Semite ever to hold the office of President.

In an article that is difficult to distinguish from satire, the Puff Ho on Thursday ran a hit piece on Donald Trump, blaming him for everything the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) thinks is wrong with America. The SPLC recently published “The Trump Effect: The Impact of the Presidential Campaign on our Nation’s Schools.”   They warn that “hatred, fear and bullying are on the rise” in schools. Drawing on the “poll” conducted by the SPLC, the Puff  Ho found that

Overall, more than two-thirds of the teachers who took the survey reported that their students — mainly Muslims, immigrants and children of immigrants — were worried about what could happen to them and their families after the November election.

The poll of teachers, which was conducted by the “Teaching Tolerance” project of the SPLC , was admittedly “not scientific,” and does not even pretend to be even-handed or random.  Those who  responded were self-selected, and drawn from the membership and supporters of the SPLC.

Our survey of approximately 2,000 K-12 teachers was not scientific. Our email subscribers and those who visit our website are not a random sample of teachers nationally, and those who chose to respond to our survey are likely to be those who are most concerned about the impact of the presidential campaign on their students and schools.

It is, of course, far from certain that the respondents were even teachers, or that their reports are anything but anecdotal and politically biased, if not indeed pure fiction.

Nevertheless, the Puff Ho wants us to know that “over a third of the teachers said they’ve seen  an increase in anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment among their students,” claiming that they  “have had Muslim students called terrorists.”

The students are described as more “openly racist,”  with

“vicious bullying of minorities, and more fear and anxiety among immigrants and minorities about what would happen to them if certain candidates for president are elected.”

Let’s try to figure out who these racist bullies are, since they are presumably not the Muslim students, who are, of course,  hapless victims in all cases, always. Nor can it be the immigrants, or children of immigrants, or minorities, since these are the ones afraid of “what would happen to them if certain candidates for president are elected.”

And who are these “certain candidates” that the children fear? The respondents mentioned Donald Trump in more than 1000 comments — “five times more often than they mentioned any of the other candidates.”

To summarize, then, we find that the Muslims, immigrants, children of immigrants, and minorities, are all the victims of open racism and vicious bullying on the part of the “other” students  –not specified, but we know who they are.

And this is all the fault of Donald Trump, whose

. . . xenophobic, populist rhetoric has brought the nation’s political discourse to new lows. When he’s not indirectly bragging about his genitalia or mocking disabled people, Trump has proposed banning Muslims from entering the country, embraced the use of war crimes to deal with terrorism suspects, and has accused Mexico of “sending rapists” to the United States.

as the Puff Ho helpfully instructs us.

Gadzooks, what next? Calling Ted Cruz a liar?

As one respondent said in a comment,

“There’s a sense that if someone doesn’t agree with you, it’s acceptable (even encouraged) to have hatred and anger towards them.”

. . . which certainly couldn’t describe anyone in the Democrat party, let alone, say, the current President, who always exhibits the utmost dignity and maturity in his dealings with those he disagrees with.

Israel Rescues Lions from Gaza

ShowImage

Israel recently aided in the transfer of an ailing lion from Hamas-controlled Gaza. The lion was taken from a closed zoo in Rafah to a zoo near Tulkarem in PA-controlled Samaria.  The rescue mission was a joint effort of the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and the Hamas-run Ministry of Agriculture in Gaza. It was the latest in a series of undertakings to rescue Gaza’s lions.

In July 2015, Israel facilitated the transfer to Jordan of two lion cubs owned by a Gaza resident who could no longer afford their upkeep. And the previous year during Operation Protective Edge, three lions were sent from Gaza to Jordan after the zoo’s location became a conflict zone in the Hamas-launched war.

In one zoo, in the southern city of Khan Yunis, only a deer, a pelican, an ostrich, two porcupines and a tiger remain of the hundreds of animals bought in for its opening in 2007.

According to The Daily Mail, dozens of animals starved and parched to death in what the newspaper called “the world’s worst zoo.” The animals were captives of the Khan Younis zoo in the Gaza Strip,  where they “were left without food due to the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, as staff were unable to feed or care for them properly” according to the owner.

Gaza resident Mohammed Awaida opened the zoo in 2007, and according to the Mail  invested “hundreds of thousands of dollars” into it.  He says he lost a number of animals during the war which began a year later.

By now the living are far outnumbered by the dead, which the zoo’s owner has preserved using rudimentary taxidermy skills learned online.

Awaida claims that it was impossible to care for the animals during the wars, and also says that he has had no visitors to the zoo because of the Hamas -Israel comflict. The above photo suggests that the zoo is still an attraction, despite the animals’ being dead.

thEK4A57VXOne tiger, Laziz,  remains alive. The animal is currently being fed through the efforts of Four Paws International, which organized a large shipment of food from Jordan to the zoo.

The owner says he would like to sell the tiger for $30,000.00, sell the land, and close the zoo. For the remaining handful of animals, it can’t happen soon enough.

French air stewardesses are refusing  to fly to Tehran beginning later this month rather than submit to a new order to wear headscarves.

It was reported Saturday that female members of flight crews and staff on Air France flights have been ordered to don the Islam-mandated headgear upon arrival in Tehran when Air France resumes flights to the Iranian capital on April 17. Unions are demanding that working the flights be made voluntary.

While women in Iran have been legally compelled to wear hijab since the 1979 revolution, in France headscarves have been banned in State offices and schools, and it is illegal to wear Muslim face-coverings in public.

According to the head of the UNAC flight crews’ union,  Flore Arrighi

“It is not our role to pass judgement on the wearing of headscarves or veils in Iran. What we are denouncing is that it is being made compulsory. Stewardesses must be given the right to refuse these flights.”

She added that female staff were entitled to exercise “individual freedoms”.

The deputy head of the SNPNC flight crews’ union, Christophe Pillet, concurred:

“Female staff do not wish to have dress regulations imposed on them, especially the obligation to wear an Air France scarf that completely covers their hair as soon as they leave the plane.”

Laurence Rossignol,  the French Minister for Women’s Rights and Families, who describes herself as a feminist, likened women who wear veils or Islamic headscarves to “negroes who supported slavery”.

“Many female members of flight crews have informed us that it is out of the question that they be obliged to wear headscarves. It is not professional and they see it as an insult to their dignity.”
