Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. –John Adams
On New Years Eve, at least hundreds and possibly over a thousand male Muslim immigrants and asylum-seekers assembled at pre-arranged locations, and assaulted women in their host countries. The assaults took place in several cities in Germany, in Austria, and in Sweden. Police report being attacked with bottles and fireworks, being taunted by violent perpetrators who tore up their residency cards and bragged of being invited in by Angela Merkel. The German media suppressed the information for four days.
Many have been eager to point out that European men rape women as well, that talking about the “race” of the perpetreators will only bolster the “Islamophobia” of the far-Right, that the unhappy events are being politicized against migrants.
Which cannot change the fact of the assaults, nor the fact that the perpetrators were Muslim migrants.
Question: Since when did it become the job of Western governments, law enforcement, and media to hide from the voting, tax-paying citizenry accurate reportage of what is happening in their own countries? Since when did it become the responsibility of government, police, and the media to shield Muslim immigrants from the consequences of their actions?
In a ridiculous act of self-delusion, women marched in Germany “Against sexism, Against racism.” It is as if they could not bear to assert their own rights, or protest the violation of those rights, without also reassuring their assailants. They could not even entertain the idea that the assaults took place because the perpetrators are Muslim men. And their victims are not.
There is even a name for it.
The [German] Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the main investigative authority in Germany, said in a response to Die Welt newspaper it knows sexual harassment of women in public is widespread in Arab countries, and that this is exactly what happened on New Year’s Eve in Cologne. Collective harassment is translated as “taharrush gamea” (حرش جماعي).
“Such crimes are committed by groups of young men… mostly when there are large gatherings of people, such as demonstrations. They range from sexual harassment to rape,” the BKA told Die Welt.
Earlier, German Justice Minister Heiko Maas urged authorities to investigate if the Cologne assaults were directly related to those in the other German cities of Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Bielefeld during New Year’s celebrations.
“If such a horde gathers in order to commit crimes, it appears in some form to be planned,” the minister told Bild on Sunday. “Nobody can tell me that this was not coordinated or prepared.”
The BKA said the assaults “ranging from sexual harassment to physical abuse” were unknown in Germany until recently.
It would be comforting to believe that Muslim asylum-seekers are just interested in relocating to a place of peace, opportunity and prosperity; hoping to live in an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect for both sexes and all orientations, with equality for all races and creeds.
But so far we’ve seen no evidence of that.
